A Baby Naming Ceremony in Richmond Barracks.
A barracks is not usually associated with joy and new life, and Richmond Barracks, the depot from which soldiers went to the Crimea and the First World War, is no different.
However, on midsummer day this year, a first baby naming ceremony was held in the barracks. Joy unconfined, joy needing to be shared, surely transformed that large gymnasium. The spirits of our 1916 leaders must have cheered to know of the new life. This was, after all, the last space where they were together. We were conscious of history, and of making history!
A beautiful garden, and excellent food, completed our day here.
To the new and beautiful life of baby Finn.
