Talks at the Mess: Dublin's Stained Glass Windows

Wednesday December 7 at 7pm

Irish stained glass recalls names like Harry Clarke and the artists of An Túr Gloine. At the neighbouring Saint Michael's Church, work by Harry Clarke Studios is visible today. The story of this incredible artform was told in the Gazetteer of Irish Stained Glass, a landmark 1988 publication, now updated and expanded by David Caron. This talk explores this art form and its impacts.

About the speaker

David Caron is editor of the Gazetteer of Irish Stained Glass (Irish Academic Press), a comprehensive guide "that lists all of Ireland’s significant stained-glass works, county by county, and the most noteworthy pieces abroad by Irish artists."

The talk will be hosted by Donal Fallon, Social Historian with Dublin City Council Culture Company.
