This August, our book clubs will read and discuss ‘The Narrow Land’ by Christine Dwyer Hickey.
Set in 1950s Cape Cod, ‘The Narrow Land’ tells the story of ten-year-old Michael as he forges an unlikely friendship with the artists Jo and Edward Hopper.
Against the backdrop of the legacy of the Second World War, this graceful and finely-balanced novel explores loneliness, regret and longing.
‘The Narrow Land’ won the Walter Scott Historical Prize for Fiction and The Dalkey Literary Award in 2020.
About the Book Clubs
The book clubs are held on the last Tuesday and Thursday of every month at 8pm. We start each session with a discussion about the current title and then have a broader discussion about books and swap recommendations.
Culture Connects @ Richmond Barracks
These workshops are part of our Culture Connects @ Richmond Barracks programme. Culture Connects is a year-round programme that invites people in Dublin to try out new things. We offer ways for people to make and create together, to share ideas and connect through culture and conversation.
The workshops cover a wide range of cultural activities from home growing to history, painting to poetry, dancing to drawing and so much more. We design sessions so that you can join one workshop or come for several, depending on your preference. Please keep an eye on our website or sign up to our newsletter for regular updates.
