We have lots of activities for children and young people to get involved in over the midterm break this February.
They can try out electronics, printmaking, cartoons, history, fashion, dance and eco-gardening.

Tuesday 17 February, 10 am to 12 pm
Learn electronics and technology skills. Join facilitator Aidan Fitzmaurice for a Maker Workshop for children and learn to make an LED torch and a propeller-powered car. This will be a creative space where mistakes are welcomed and exploration is encouraged!
This workshop is suitable for children aged 10 to 12. Children do not need to be accompanied by an adult during the workshop, but will need permission from a parent or guardian to take part. We will email you a permission form before the workshop.
Tuesday 17 February, 1 pm to 3 pm

Wednesday 18 February, 1.30 pm to 3 pm
Make a print of your own monster or magical creature. Join Artist in Residence Shannon Jade Wilson to explore printmaking with different textures and materials.
This workshop is suitable for children aged 5 to 7. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
This workshop takes place every Wednesday from 11 February to 18 March, 4 pm to 5.15 pm
Discover different ways of being creative through printmaking. Join Artist in Residence Shannon Jade Wilson for these art workshops. Each week we will use a different theme to experiment with and learn about different printing methods. You can book to come to one workshop or as many as you like.

Thursday 19 February, 11 am to 12 pm
Have you ever wondered when hoodies and jerseys were invented? Join Children's History Facilitator Lorcan McEvoy to explore the history of fashion. Find out about the origins of some of your favourite clothes and create your own designs!
This workshop is suitable for children aged 9 to 12. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Thursday 19 February, 2 pm to 3 pm
Explore boycotts and protests from history. Join Historian in Residence for Children, Lorcan McEvoy to discover the Irish origins of the word 'boycott' and create your own protest art or slogans for the issues that matter to you.
This workshop is suitable for young people aged 12 to 15. Young people do not need to be accompanied by an adult during the workshop, but will need permission from a parent or guardian to take part.

Thursday 19 February, 2 pm to 3 pm
Learn how to create nature-friendly habitats for insects and animals. Join Eco-Gardener in Residence Polly Rowley-Sams to discover the different things you can do and make to support biodiversity in your garden, school or workplace. This workshop will take place outdoors in the Richmond Barracks garden so please dress for the weather.
This workshop is suitable for all ages. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Young people aged 13 to 17 will need permission from a parent or guardian to take part on their own.

Saturday 21 February, 1 pm to 1.45 pm
Discover all kinds of dance moves from Rock ‘n’ Roll, to Hip Hop, K-Pop and more! Join Dance Artist in Residence Mia DiChiaro for a family-friendly dance party. Create your own special moves and leap, swing, twist and dance in wild and wonderful ways!
The Family Dance Party is part of Dance Day, a day-long festival for people of all ages who are curious about trying out dance. Curated by Artists in Residence Philippa Donnellan and Mia DiChiaro, Dance Day will offer free taster workshops of different styles of dance, dance film screenings and more. No previous dance experience is necessary and everyone is welcome.
Every Saturday, drop-in between 2 pm and 3:30 pm
Make and create together at these family friendly drop-in workshops. Each Saturday join a different artist to explore art and crafts and try something new.
These are drop-in workshops so no booking is required. These workshops are suitable for all ages. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
