The Historian in Residence for Children further nurtures children on their journeys of discovery through stories and history.
In school or community settings, the programme seeks to provide opportunities and resources to help children uncover the stories of our city and its people, bringing the past to life by finding new and creative ways to engage and connect through history.
Some of the ways we have connected with the Historian in Residence for Children at Richmond Barracks in the past have included:

Richmond Barracks has a year-round programme of activities for children and young people on many topics and art forms, including history and heritage.

We teamed up with illustrator John Farrelly of 'Deadly Irish History' to create the ‘Hidden Histories Hunt’, a self-guided 3 km treasure hunt for children in Dublin City, teaching them about the city's buildings, bridges, history and little-known facts.
The treasure hunt is widely available in libraries across Dublin, or you can download it here:
The Historian for Children is part of the Dublin City Historian in Residence programme created by Dublin City Libraries, funded by Dublin City Council, and is delivered in partnership with Dublin City Council Culture Company.

We create partnerships to try out ideas, test new approaches and add to the cultural story of the city.
Creative Residencies encourage makers and experts to pilot new reciprocal partnerships with organisations. By bringing creative people and organisations together, and by connecting through culture and conversations, we will develop and share new ways of working.
The Creative Residency programme is made by Dublin City Council Culture Company
