Singing Day

Join us on 9 May for Singing Day, a day-long festival for people of all ages who are curious about trying out singing. 

Curated by Artist in Residence Michael McCartan, Singing Day will offer free taster workshops of different styles of group singing. No previous experience of singing or reading music is necessary and everyone is welcome.

Singing Day is part of the 2026 Culture Date with Dublin 8 programme. 

A Sing for Fun workshop with Artist in Residence Michael McCartan, part of the regular programme of activities at Richmond Barracks

 

• Singing Improvisation and Games (adults and ages 12+) 10.30 am to 11.30 am
  Try out improvised group singing and singing games. Experiment with sounds and rhythm and use your voice to create unique music as part of a group.
  
  
• Sing Out / Move About (all ages) 12 pm to 12.45 pm
  An intergenerational singing workshop which combines singing, spoken word, rhythm and movement.
  
  
• Lunch and chat
  Bring your lunch and join us for a cup of tea and a chat (all ages, no booking required)
  
  
• Irish Folk Songs (adults and ages 12+) 2 pm to 3.15 pm
  Celebrate Ireland's musical heritage and try out singing as part of a group.
